GQueues for Android™

The GQueues app for Android allows you to access your tasks on the go from your Android phone or tablet.

Logging in with Google

Sign in to the GQueues Android App with your Google Account or Google Apps account.

A paid subscription is required to use the Android app, or you can start a 2-week free trial.

GQueues uses Android's built-in account manager to allow for quick and secure access to your account - no typing email addresses or passwords!


Adding Tasks

Tap the plus (+) button to add a new task at any time.


If you are in a specific queue, the task will be added to that queue. Otherwise the task will be added to your Inbox.


Tap the Edit task... button to specify the task details or change the queue.


Voice Input

When adding a new task tap the microphone to speak your task instead of typing.

When finished speaking the text will appear which you can edit if needed.

Quick add syntax can be used to enter task details inline.


Completing and Archiving Tasks

Tap the checkbox to complete a task.

Depending on your checkmark settings, the task may be automatically archived as well.

To explictly archive a task you can long-tap the task and choose Archive from the popup menu.

If you are viewing archived tasks you can tap the checkmark to re-open the task.


Editing Tasks

To edit a task long-tap the task and choose Edit from the popup menu.

Here you can enter the details for the task. Tap the disk icon to save your changes or the X to cancel.

If you are viewing the task details you can long-tap the title, notes or elsewhere to automatically start editing, or choose Edit Task from the menu.


Repeating Tasks

To create a repeating task edit the task and tap the Repetition field.

Choose the repetition pattern desired and tap Set.

Now your task is set to repeat according to the pattern.

Whenever you complete a repeating task a new instance will be generated based on the pattern.


Creating Subtasks

From the task list long-tap the task and choose Add subtask from the popup menu.

Or from the task details you can tap the Add subtask button.

Enter the details for the subtask and save it. The number of subtasks will now appear on the task which you can tap to view the list of subtasks.


Making Subtasks / Supertasks

To make an existing task a subtask position the task underneath the task you want to be the parent, long-tap the task and choose Make subtask from the popup menu.

To make an existing subtask no longer a subtask long-tap it and choose Make supertask.


Reordering

To reorder categories, queues and tasks, tap and drag the box / folder on the left side and reposition the item where you want.

The item will appear semi-transparent while you drag.



Viewing Tasks

Tap any task to view its details.

Once in the details view you can swipe left or right to view the previous and next tasks in the list.


Viewing Subtasks

Tap the number on the right of a task to view the list of subtasks.

From the task details view you can also tap the subtasks button.



Viewing Archived Tasks

Tap the Archived button to view archived tasks in a queue.


Sharing Queues

Right now if you want to share an entire queue with someone else you must do so from the web interface.

Categories

To edit a category long-tap the category and choose Edit from the popup menu.

Make the desired changes and tap the disk icon the save the changes.

To delete a category first delete all the queues in the category. Then long-tap the category and choose Delete from the popup menu.

To add a new category choose Add Category from the menu.


Queues

To edit a queue long-tap the queue and choose Edit from the popup menu.

Make the desired changes and tap the disk icon the save the changes.

To delete a queue long-tap it and choose Delete from the popup menu.

To add a new queue choose Add Queue from the menu.


Tags

To view tasks for a specific tag choose Tags from the dropdown menu and tap the particular tag.



You can also choose how the tasks are grouped and sorted in this view.

To edit a tag long-tap the tag and choose Edit from the popup menu.

Make the desired changes and tap the disk icon the save the changes.

To delete a tag long-tap the tag and choose Delete from the popup menu.

To add a new tag choose Add Tag from the menu.


Smart Queues

Choose Smart Queues from the dropdown menu to view your smart queues.

Tap the smart queue you wish to view.

You can choose how the tasks are grouped and sorted in this view.


Shared Queues

Choose Friend Queues from the dropdown menu to view queues shared with you.

Choose the friend and queues you wish to view.




Shortcut

You can add Android homescreen shortcuts to create a new task or open any queue, smart queue or tag.

To create a shortcut for a queue choose Create Shortcut from the menu.

To create a shortcut for adding new tasks go to Settings, Shortcuts and tap the one you want.


Tapping the shortcut allows you to create a task in your Inbox without leaving the homescreen.

Widgets

To add a GQueues widget to your home screen open the apps screen, tap the WIDGETS tab and scroll to the GQueues widgets.

Quick View Widget

View tasks from any queue, smart queue or tag directly on your homescreen or lockscreen with the Quick View widget.

Tap the plus(+) button to add a task to this queue without leaving the homescreen.

Tap the queue title to open the GQueues app to that specific queue.

Tap any task in the widget to see details without leaving the homescreen. Swipe left or right to see the previous and next task in the queue.

Quick Actions Widget

From the WIDGETS panel tap and hold the GQueues Quick Actions widget and drag it to your home screen.

Now you can tap the icons to speak a new task, type a new task, search your tasks or just open the app.

Shortcut Widget

From the WIDGETS panel tap and hold the GQueues Shortcut widget and drag it to your home screen.

A configuration screen will appear where you can select which queue you would like the shortcut to open.

Choose your settings and tap Create Shortcut

Now you can tap the shortcut to directly open GQueues to the queue you specified.

You can add multiple shortcuts to your home screen and resize them as desired.


DashClock Extension

GQueues has a built-in extension for the popular DashClock Widget.

In DashClock Settings just tap Add Another Extension and choose GQueues.

You can choose to show the task count for any queue or smart queue.

Google Now Integration

GQueues works with Google Now's Note to Self feature.

To use, just tap the Google microphone and say "Note to...."

When prompted, choose GQueues from the options.

Searching Tasks

Tap the magnifying glass and enter a search term to find particular tasks.



The following search syntax is supported:

  • AND, OR, NOT (must be capitalized)
  • Use an asterisk * for partial word search.
  • fieldName:searchTerm to limit searching only that field. Supported fields:
    • description
    • notes
    • tag

Sorting and Grouping

Tap the top right button to choose how tasks are grouped and sorted.




These settings will be remembered the next time you open that particular smart queue or tag queue.


Using Multiple Accounts

You can use multiple GQueues accounts with the Android app.

To add another account choose Accounts... from the dropdown menu.

Then tap the Add Account button.

Login with the credentials for the other account.

To switch between accounts choose Accounts... from the dropdown menu and then tap the account you want from the list.


Adding Tasks from Other Apps

You can create a task from any app that has the Share menu item.

For instance, in the YouTube app choose Share and select GQueues to automatically create a task to watch the video later with a link to the video.




Syncing

Data syncs automatically between your Android device and the web.

Syncing happens in the background whenever a network connection present, even if the app is not open. If you make changes while offline those changes will automatically sync the next time a network connection becomes available.

Changes made through the web interface are automatically pushed to your Android device.

Manual syncing is unnecessary, but you can tap the Sync button or select if from the menu to force syncing at that moment.


Settings

To adjust the app settings choose Settings from the menu.

In General Preferences you can choose options such as font size and task row height.


In Account Settings you can also adjust account-specific settings such as choosing where new tasks are inserted or activating calendar integration.


Remove or Reset an Account

Choose Accounts... from the dropdown menu.

Long-tap the specific account and the popup menu will appear.

To remove the account from the app choose Remove Account.

To clear all account data from your device and re-download all data from the web choose Reset Account.
